The terms ‘man’ and ‘woman’, as mutually exclusive and binary gender classifications, are the foundation concept for most of society and culture. Those of us who reject the restrictions placed on us in this binary framework don’t have to call ourselves ‘men’ or ‘women’, but if we don’t then people are at a loss, and try to decide which to call us anyway!

Sounds like you might have found a strategy of simply ignoring the classification, and not claiming one. Most of our interactions with others are perfectly successful without the particular styling associated with being a ’man’ or ‘woman’.

I have heard objections that desirable sexual tension in society is lost if people stop adhering to the common rules for personal styling as one of two complementary opposites. Overall, I think society would be much better off if that was so!
