Thank you for so clearly rebutting the myths that plague sexuality and by incorporation- gender! The stereotypes about bisexuality are mirrored for monosexuality as well. Any male, for example, is expected to be a sexual risk- for temptation to predation on … name your victim: women, children, anyone weaker than them or subject to manipulation, etc. Any female is expected to be a passive partner, but since this is quietly understood to be enforced on her, she is also suspected of having a closet of unfulfilled desires- hence she is also a candidate for seduction and thereby victimization, or, perhaps, a wild night of sexual abandon.
People in the trans band share all the diversity of sexuality that cis people do, and being outside the ‘normal’ spectrum doesn’t prevent us from being stereotyped in just the same way. It does increase the sense of ‘otherness’, just as race does, and , added to the confusion of hinting at being both male and female, makes it easier for others to objectify us and cultivate exaggerated suspicions.
