Dear Fireblossom,
The point of my article, exactly as stated in the quore, is not that it is all about me, but that gender is a relationship feature, and harmony can only occur when relationship partners see the defining characters and meanings of gender the same way.
Your letter is a perfect example- in which you have a position on gender that leads you to choose angry criticism rather than inquiry and genial conversation with me.
Unlike your hypothetical teen, I am not insulted by my critics. I understand their point of view and multitude of objections very well.
It is unfortunate that critics are usually asserting that traditional gender or appearance norms are fundamental and incontrovertibly correct, therefore anyone asking for reconsideration should be dismissed as out of bounds, and derided personally just for good measure!
It doesn't have to be like that.
Best wishes,
Miri
